Dearest Lena
Although this will undoubtedly be the most unadorned and some may say - mediocre (go on.. say it.. you know you want to) of all the messages posted thus far - i would just like to say that this is the first time my technophobic ass has posted one of these so-called "blog" devices and Lena - only the most special occassion of your 23rd birthday could have given me the inspiration and impetus to step so far beyond my cosy little comfort zone.

In our friendship you have always pushed me to try things, to do things, to do people, and experience life in ways that i never would have to balls to do without your encouragement. You have a wacky wild take on the world which is constantly eye-opening, challenging and changing and that touches and impacts everyone who comes across your path (especially those poor souls who at one time or another happen to fall on your infamously icy, Siberia-esque "bad-side" - we've come a long way since year 8, baby!). The good times we have spent together are already too many to number or list and here's hoping that the numbers only continue to spiral out of control.

Even as we - you and i and the rest of the possie - continue to spread out, move around and follow our own, separate and sometimes diverging paths - with a friendship like ours we will find a way to keep in touch and connected and will not be overcome by mere trifles such as "long-distance" or "24-plane ries" or any such pish-posh. Now for the corny bit (mmm...corn...) - I keep imagining the next time we can all sit down - the whole crew - beers in hand, remembering how it has been so long since we were all together, yet amazed by how we still feel so close and comfortable, like we were never separated for a moment.
